FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
RAtheMC releases her breakthrough project, The Grace Jones Experiment.
Washington, DC (Tuesday March 27, 2012) –The Grace Jones Experiment, is the first project from hip hop recording artist RAtheMC since her departure from her record label Studio 43 (a boutique label head by music veteran Kenny Burns.) The Grace Jones Experiment is a musical body of work that embodies the traits of what the Grace Jones brand personified; rather than a reflection of her catalog. RAtheMC has six successful projects (5 mixtapes and 1 album) under her belt with Grace marking her seventh, has experienced a career that unlike any other indie recording artist. She has been nominated for a MTV Breakout Artist VMA, opened for The Clipse on the Sneaker Pimps Tour, featured on MTV2 Sucker Free Sunday and BET’s My Mic Sound’s Nice: A celebration of Women in Hip Hop. With the signing to her third indie label Studio 43, RA was prepared for a mainstream career take off but instead she was faced with another career setback when the company switched its niche to a full service marketing firm. Now taking her career footsteps alone, Ra is seeking to show a strong representation of females in hip hop through her own adversity, while finding her grace.
Recorded over the duration of late 2011 and early 2012 The Grace Jones Experiment will mark the breakthrough project for recording artist RAtheMC. Creating a project unlike any of her prior work, The Grace Jones Experiment is assembled to flow as if it is an experience rather than an album as the rapper states in the intro “It’s The Grace Jones Experiment, it’s about being edgy, bold fearless, confident, unordinary and beautiful. Joining Ra for the experience are rising indie soul recording artist Jessie Boykins III, who serves as the mixtape narrator and features by buzzing hip hop recording artist Phil Ade and Javier Starks. With The Grace Jones Experiment being filled with Ra’s unique and unparalleled deliverance, up-tempo’s, female anthems and a reflection of love and life RAtheMC has put her best foot forward with this timeless effort.
RAtheMC has been a driving force in the D.M.V.(DC,MD,VA) music scene over the last four years and a pioneer for “hipster fashionista female rappers.” With the now completed The Grace Jones Experiment, she is entering a new career stage as this is her first project since her debut mixtape (A Mixtape About Something,) without the backing of her accustomed boutique record labels. The journey for RAtheMC has had a rye of moments from being celebratory, disappointing, and conquering, but RAtheMC seems to be learning and loving every moment of it.
